When foster kids here in the United States leave their home or switch homes, the few personal belongings they do have are often put in a trash bag. Lia Widenhofer, in partnership with Comfort Cases, is working to change that. The goal is to create 50 cases to help lessen the indignity that children face when having to put personal belongings in a trash bag. These cases will have basic necessities (tooth brush, shampoo, etc), a book, a journal or coloring book (depends on age) a stuffed animal, and a blanket. These cases will be distributed to police officers, social workers, and others who have direct contact to children in the system with the help of a locally based organization called Comfort Cases.
We will be collecting important items like pajamas, coloring books, personal hygiene items, and more to help fill these backpacks. What an incredible way to love our neighbors with kindness and generosity. Check out the details HERE
